Marked Tree Woodworks was born out of tragedy, when I lost my military brother in 2012. In trying to figure out life without him, I bought a book on grief that specifically cited woodworking as a coping strategy. So, without any basic skills or tools, I gave it a go and the rest is history. Let’s just say my first project, a bedframe, won’t likely end up in the Museum of Fine Arts, but my skills advanced over the years as did my projects. When a finished piece makes its way to a new home, I like to think a little bit of my friend goes with it, bringing good juju since he was genuinely a great human.

I went from no dust collection to a powerful 2-stage machine. From flex hose to steel ducting. The early days of my system were inefficient to say the least. I would wear a mask (when I remembered), but would feel the effects of sawdust inhalation for days on some occasions. As demand for my work increased, my dust collection system couldn’t keep up and I found myself limiting shop time. So, while commissions increased, time in the shop decreased…bad combo!
After significant research, I increased to a powerful dust processor and Nordfab ducting. I went from being in the shop for a few hours to working full days without any irritation.
I have now joined forces with Nordfab and work exclusively with small to mid-size shops, designing and ordering ducting for everyday, residential and/or small business woodshops around the country. My goal is to help people skip a few unnecessary steps and save some lungs in the process!
